Accident Insurance in New Port Richey

An accident plan pays you set cash amounts after a covered injury, such as a broken wrist, an ER visit or an ambulance ride. We read the benefit schedule and exclusions with you, line by line, so you know exactly what the policy pays before you sign.

What accident insurance does, and what it does not

Accident insurance is supplemental coverage. It does not pay your doctor or the hospital. It pays you a fixed amount for each covered event listed in the policy, and you decide where the money goes: the deductible on your health plan, a copay, lost hours at work or the drive to follow-up visits.

Under federal rules, an accident plan is an excepted benefit. That means it does not count as qualifying health coverage and cannot stand in for an individual, family or ACA Marketplace plan. We say this plainly on the first call, because a plan sold as a replacement for real medical coverage is the most common way people get hurt in this corner of insurance.

Where it fits well is next to a plan with a high deductible. If your main coverage leaves you paying a few thousand dollars before benefits start, a well-chosen accident policy can close part of that gap.

What we go through with you

The benefit schedule, item by item

Every accident policy has a list of injuries and the amount it pays for each. We walk through fractures, dislocations, burns, stitches, imaging and hospital admission so the numbers mean something before you enroll.

Exclusions in plain words

Most policies exclude certain sports, injuries while intoxicated and some motor vehicle situations. We point out each exclusion and tell you whether it touches the way you actually live and work.

Work injuries or off-the-job only

Some plans cover only injuries that happen off the job, leaving work injuries to workers' compensation. Others also pay when you are hurt at work. We check which version fits your situation before comparing premiums.

Side-by-side carrier options

We put several carriers' accident plans next to each other, with the same injuries priced across each, so the comparison is fair and easy to read.

How claims are filed

We explain what a carrier will ask for after an injury, usually a claim form, the provider's records and an itemized bill, so you keep the right papers from the start.

When an accident plan may make sense

  • You carry a high deductible

If a single ER trip would eat up much of your deductible, a cash benefit can ease that first bill.

  • Your family is active in sports

Youth leagues, weekend soccer games and fishing trips along the Gulf lead to sprains and broken bones. We review the sports exclusions with you first.

  • You do physical work

Trade work, landscaping and warehouse jobs come with higher injury risk. We check whether you need on-the-job benefits or whether workers' compensation already handles that part.

  • Lost paychecks would hurt your budget

Since the money goes to you, it can help with rent or groceries while an injury like a broken ankle keeps you home.

How a consultation runs

  1. 1

    A short first call

You tell us what medical coverage you already have, who needs to be covered and the kind of work and activities in your week. It takes about as long as a cup of coffee.

  2. 2

    We gather the options

We pull accident plans from multiple carriers and line up their benefit schedules, exclusions and premiums in the same format.

  3. 3

    We review them together

By phone, by video or at our office, we go through each option and give you a straight read on which ones fit and which ones do not. If none of them earn their premium for you, we say so.

  4. 4

    Enrollment, if you choose

We complete the application with you, confirm the effective date and explain how to file a claim when you need to.

What affects your premium

Accident plans tend to be affordable, but a few choices push the premium up or down. We show how each one affects the monthly price so you can drop what you don't need. Meeting with us is free, because the insurer whose plan you choose pays us.

Benefit level
Larger payouts for a fracture, hospital stay or ER visit raise the premium. Many people pick a benefit level close to their health plan deductible.
Who is covered
Covering only yourself costs less than adding a spouse or children. Family coverage is often a single price tier no matter how many children are included.
Work-injury coverage
A plan that pays for injuries at work and away from work costs more than one limited to off-the-job injuries.
Added benefits
Benefits for hospital admission, intensive care and follow-up visits are optional, and adding or dropping each one changes the price.

Accident insurance questions

Something not covered here? (727) 609-4129

Can an accident plan replace my health insurance?

No. It is an excepted benefit and does not count as qualifying coverage. It works alongside an individual, family or ACA Marketplace plan, and we help with those too if you need one.

Does it pay if I already have health insurance?

Yes. Accident benefits are paid to you regardless of what your health plan covers. That is the point of the policy: it helps with the costs your main plan leaves you to pay.

Is there a waiting period?

Many accident plans begin paying for covered injuries soon after the effective date, but some carriers set their own rules. We confirm the start date and any waiting period for each plan we show you.

Does it cover illness?

No. Accident insurance pays only for injuries from a covered accident. Illness is handled by your medical plan.

What does it cost me to talk with you?

Nothing. The conversation is free, and our compensation comes from the insurer you enroll with. Having us compare accident plans adds nothing to your premium or your bill.
